Are you familiar with the product "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter"? Well, my parents regularly buy that and one time, my son Adi asked his lola what it was. [more]

"What's this, Mommy?" Adi asked while staring at and holding my cute, wooden letter opener with a giraffe design which I had bought at the Museum of the Filipino People gift shop. [more]

All that talk about giving a "fine stone" during the SONA early this week must have rubbed off on my son's school too. Yesterday, one of his assignments was to tell mom and dad (I love this part of homework) the story of the donkey Sylvester and his magic pebble. [more]

The internet has been painfully slow in the last few days so that's my excuse for not writing. Faster though than anyone could spell G-A-L-U-N-G-G-O-N-G, President GMA's reference to P60 a kilo galunggong has our nation's housewives up in arms. [more]

If newspaper reports today are accurate, expect Gloria's bangkang papel to be replaced by "bato at semento" in her SONA this afternoon. References should then be made to building a stronger republic by improving the peace and order situation, among other things. [more]

On Monday, July 22, President GMA will again deliver her State of the Nation Address. I wonder what gimmicks (remember those paper boats last year?) she has up her sleeve this year? Already, the opposition (will I ever live to see the day when we will all be united? I seriously doubt it...) has already delivered its own SONA. The militant groups are poised to rally on Monday. Is it any wonder we can't do better? We can't even work together. [more]

Finally, the sun is out. (I can hear the hubby groaning: "Oh no, she had to say it..." But am really so happy about it being bright and sunny after two wet and dreary weekends that I, well, just had to point it out and rejoice. [more]

"Her name was Gloria. She was a small girl..." This might as well be the song of the moment. With all love seemingly lost between president GMA and the Council for Philippine Affairs (COPA), we Filipinos seem to find ourselves in a hot spot again, politically. Never mind if I don't know whether we're north or south of Havana. [more]

The Podium is Henry Sy's newest mall in the Ortigas area. It's supposed to be upscale although the parking lot doesn't look it. Anyway, the shops and the restaurants are okay. [more]

Adi was disappointed today. He was hoping there would still be no classes because of the rains (Hooray! My son's normal - he'd rather stay at home than go to school...). As early as last night, he was already asking me if there was going to be school today. There was no announcement yet so I told him I would listen to the radio this morning. [more]

My son Adi isn't very hard to feed. He eats practically everything - except raisins and spring onions perhaps. He takes pesto, cucumber, and even tofu, among others. [more]

Nope, that ain't a typo up there. I really did mean "honework." Don't we send our kids to school to hone their skills? And also to keep them away from that dreaded TV... [more]

"Guingona, Guingona, let's go na with Guingona!" Remember that campaign jingle? To me, it ranks way up there in terms of recall with "Sha-sha-sha, kailangan natin Sha." Anyway. [more]

Every summer, my husband lovingly hounds (it is possible to do this) me about our car batteries. He repeatedly reminds me that batteries usually die suddenly and before the rainy season starts is the best time to replace them -- whether you've been having some problems with them or not. [more]
