It was a toss-up between La Visa Loca and Bikini Open, two Pinoy films which have gotten pretty good reviews in the newspapers in the last few days. As time for movie-watching is quite limited, the film from the makers of Crying Ladies won in the end over the makers of Machete. Okay, that's not a fair comparison -- the makers of Bridal Shower would probably be more apt. [more]

May starts off with Labor Day, a celebration which is observed worldwide. In the Philippines, this day is usually marked by government announcing promises and benefits for the labor force. The labor groups, on the other hand, usually mark this day with protests since perennially, their position is that workers are usually shortchanged by government and employers, particularly during these difficult times. S.M.I.L.E. stands for Saving Memories, Inspirations, and Life's Events. It's a store that specializes in scrapbooking or preserving your memories in a creative, attractive way. I bought some items from their Megamall store some time ago and they asked me to fill up a form which will give them permission to send me materials by e-mail. Well, I got their newsletter a few days ago and asked the owner, Melody Chan, if I could share some of the information there with viloria visitors and she agreed. [more]

I must have been about 10 years old when I saw my first Star Wars movie (Episode 4 as we would belatedly find out)and got hooked on Luke Skywalker. Last weekend, my husband and I, together with our 8-year old son, trooped to the moviehouse to catch Star Wars Episode 3 (Revenge of the Sith -- or is it Revenge of the Sixth...movie?) [more]

Travelling with an 8-year old is fine. Adi is independent enough and can even help out with some chores during travel. He carries his own things with his knapsack and listens to instructions. He can be asked to push the trolley at the airport and can watch his 3-year old sister, Ali as you attend to things. [more]

Sunway Lagoon is about 45 minutes to 1 hour and a half away from New World Hotel, depending on the traffic situation and whether your cab driver gets lost or not. [more]

We wanted to hear mass on a Friday, May 6 in Kuala Lumpur. Thankfully, our KL-based, Pinoy friend, Roquito, is just the perfect person to ask for such schedules. [more]

Whoever thought learning isn't fun has probably never been to a Science Center. We immensely enjoyed the Science Museum in Hong Kong (I think it still is my favorite to date) so we made it a point to visit Petrosains Discovery Center at the KLCC Suria Mall, right next to the Petronas Twin Towers. We visited the KLCC Park at past 10am and it was very hot. Still, the kids enjoyed themselves. There was a playground, fountains, something like a mini-waterfalls, and a pool where children can actually play, wade, and swim if they had the proper attire. It was a huge amount of space where children can just run around and have fun. [more]

We stayed at the New World Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It's located at Jalan Ampang and the hotel is a 10-minute walk away from Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC). Of course, when carrying a 3-year old, it can feel more like a 20-minute walk but that's beside the point. [more]

We enjoyed our brief stay in Singapore and will probably be back to visit my brother and his family again in the next few years. The kids look forward to playing with Max, the maltese again even as I think Max got pretty tired with Adi asking him to fetch the ball several times. [more]

There won't be a lot of food information for this trip series. One, I didn't eat too well as I always had Ali on my lap or something. Two, I didn't get to write things down soon enough so I have forgotten. Anyway, I will write about whatever it is that I do remember. [more]

Allot a whole day for this attraction, particularly when with small kids. The Bird Park is huge and since you really can't hurry kids when going from one section to the next, giving yourself more time for the park will allow you to enjoy the birds better. [more]

Am all for supporting our flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, everytime I can. When your flight, however, PR 501 to Singapore, in our case, is delayed first by an hour and then by 3 hours, you begin to think about Jet Asia and the other airlines. [more]

Our kids recently came from their vacation in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur from May 2 to 7. Nope, they didn't go by themselves but the hubby and I weren't on vacation. We were around largely to take care of our kids' food, purchases, and whatever else they needed. As my friend said: "It's really their holiday." [more]
