Today marks the first day of simbang gabi (dawn masses). So in the next 9 days till December 24, Catholics will troop to churches for masses which start as early as 4:30 or 5am as a way of preparing for Christmas. The air will be cool and after, there's hot tea, bibingka, or puto bumbong.

We visited an elderly aunt (in her 80s, I assume) of ours last weekend. Just like talking to kids, talking to people quite advanced in age is different as you never quite know what to expect. Having come this far, in life, I suppose, they aren't as guarded with what they say or how they say it.

October 2002 to October 2003, if I'm not mistaken, has been designated as the Year of the Holy Rosary. There's a whole new set of mysteries, in fact, that we meditate on every Thursday - the Luminous Mysteries.
