Jet Lag

When we came home from our vacation in the US, I had jet lag for about a week or so. I don't know if it comes with age, but I didn't remember having it as badly before when I was much younger.

On the way to Los Angeles, we left Manila at night and also arrived in the US at night. Although we were tired when we got there, we adjusted instantly and after a good night's sleep (upon getting there), we were already up and about the next day and touring Universal Studios.

On the way home to Manila, we left San Francisco at night and arrived here in the Philippines early in the morning. To hasten the adjustment process, we stayed awake when we got to Manila and only went to sleep at nighttime. I don't think that did us good. For about a week, I was falling asleep as I went to the 6pm mass. I thought it would go on forever -- but thankfully, it didn't. After a week, I was back to normal.

From that experience then, it seems it would be easier for your body to adjust if you arrived at night and then went on to bed right away so your body could get the rest that it needed soonest. What about you? What has been your jet lag experience? Any tips on how to minimize the effects of jet lag?
