WordPress Themes and Security

Are you pleased with your beautiful WordPress theme? Don't look now, but your blog's security could be at risk.

First things first -- download your WordPress themes only from reputable places. If you see a wondrously attractive design, check first the address of the web site and then search for that in Google. You'll end up seeing webpages praising that site, or warning people about hidden trojans or other security issues.

If you do go to a reputable site and download a non-free WordPress theme, don't complacently sit back and assume that everything is fine just because you paid close to $100 for that customized theme.

It's a good idea to monitor the blog of that WordPress theme designer, so that just in case a security alert or vulnerability report is posted, you'll know about it right away. And more importantly, you will be able to download the security patch and immediately protect your otherwise wide-open blog.

So remember, it's not enough to just simply add content to your blog. Take the time to ensure your site is secure from people who love to exploit the many bugs that plague webservers every now and then.
