Flash and Firefox Slowdown

Why is my Firefox slowing down? Why is my computer fan speeding up?

Don't look now but when you use Firefox to view web sites using flash (i.e., embedded YouTube videos), the CPU usage goes through the roof.

The computer slows down, screen become sluggish, and your computer starts making a whining noise (it's the fan trying its best to cool your PC).

But when you close the tab that was displaying the YouTube video, Firefox starts to quiet down and your CPU usage drops to below 10 percent (press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to see your computer's performance).

For some, leaving GMail on for a long time while using Firefox tends to eat up the memory of their PC.

I think I'll go try the Opera browser now...
