Disabling WordPress Smartquotes

Don't you go berserk when your WordPress-powered blog keeps showing smartquotes instead of the old straight quotes. When you display the rss feeds on partner sites, the smartquotes keep showing up as weird symbols. Thankfully, there's a solution.

In the WordPress Removal Hack blog entry, James Curbo presents a WP Unformatted plugin that quickly and elegantly solves this problem with smartquotes.

Simply copy-paste the script into a php file (i.e., wptexturize-removal.php), and uploaded that file to the /wp-content/plugins folder. From the WP admin screen, you'll need to activate the plugin.

After just a few minutes, you'll say goodbye to all your smartquote nightmares.
