Toys R Us -- Now in the Philippines

Toys R Us, the well-known US toy store is now in the Philippines, in Robinson's Galleria to be exact. It's located at the 4th floor where Dreamscape used to be.

It opened last weekend and there were lots of people milling or looking around, including us. We didn't buy anything though (didn't need anything then but we do need something this week) -- as with the sheer number of people, it was not really that comfortable to shop. Anyway, I think the crowds will be more manageable soon.

The place is not that big (have seen bigger Toys R Us stores elsewhere) although it does offer some new items (really nice, reasonably priced block sets; slides for microscopes), very cheap toys too (less than P100!), and a stuffing station just like Build-A-Bear in the US -- although I forget now what the name is over here. I think it's a different group.

In terms of areas, there are several, namely:

1. Infants
2. Sports and Outdoor
3. Boys' Action and Adventure
4. Toys for learning and fun
5. Girls' Favorites
6. Tom's World -- where you have some arcade games

Your child can have a photo taken with SpongeBob statues too. (Ali did that.) The carousel from Dreamscape (?) is still there at Tom's World.

So what are you waiting for? Visit Toys R Us and be a child again. SM's Toy Kingdom or Galleria's Toys R Us? It's all about the power of choice.
