The Road to Wellness

I was listening to Manang Rose on DZBB the other night and the guest doctor then was talking about wellness. According to the doctor, wellness is not just the absence of disease but is actually all about feeling good about yourself on a day-to-day basis.

There are three things necessary to achieve wellness: diet, exercise, and the proper attitude. If you think about it, most of the things mentioned are quite common sensical but most of us, I think, need reminding from time to time. Here's what the doctor said over the radio:

DIET: Stay away from salty and fatty foods. Steamed, grilled, or boiled food beat fried food anytime. Try and lessen your meat intake. Fiber is best and you can get this from fruits and vegetables.

EXERCISE: The minimum required is 10 minutes, at least three times a day, five days a week. The thirty minutes daily can be done in one go or in spurts. Aerobic exercise is best like brisk walking, swimming, jogging. Weight training can also help. Exercise tones your body, strengthens your bones, and also makes your heart healthier.

ATTITUDE: Keep a positive outlook. Do not worry needlessly.

So stay healthy everyone. Your families need you and they love you. :-)
