Child Book Review 9: Noah's Ark - Illustrated by Peter Spier

WHAT IS IT ABOUT? It's about one of the most famous stories in the Bible - Noah's Ark. The tale, however, is told almost entirely in pictures, with just one full page of text. The book is a winner of the Caldecott Medal.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT THIS BOOK? There are lots of interesting pictures, filled with the tiniest details. Parents will have great flexibility in telling the story as they will not be bound by the words of the book. Pictures here truly paint a thousand words.

The only page with text is also quite creative, with all the lines rhyming. The text is entitled: The Flood and was translated from Dutch by Peter Spier.

WHAT DO OUR KIDS LEARN? This book is a good way to start your kids on Bible stories. Get them interested in characters from the Bible so that eventually, they will be regular Bible readers themselves. Noah's Ark is a great story. It is about Noah who was so obedient, doing everything that God commanded him to do. It is about a God, who even in his anger with the world, spared Noah's family and a few of each living creature to ensure that life will go on. It is about God's great promise that a flood will never again destroy all living beings. Then again, let us all strive to live our lives well and according to God's plan and purpose - for He only promised about a flood...
