Obama Inauguration Live Video

A lot of people are going to watch the online streaming live video coverage of the inauguration of US President Barack Obama on January 20, 2009 (11:30am EST).

That will make it around 12:30 in the wee hours of the morning of Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the Philippines. Given how a lot of Filipinos tend to be nightowls, there will be quite a few folks watching it on TV. The younger generation or even the Plurkistas will probably watch the inauguration live online.

What advantage does the internet have over television? Well, people can watch or simply listen to the live streaming video while they go about surfing other websites, exchanging emails, updating their blogs, uploading photos to their FaceBook accounts, chatting and other YM stuff, Twitter-ing or even Plurk-ing.

In other words, people can "watch" a news event in almost the same way they watch some film in a jam-packed movie theater with friends. It is more engaged and more social, especially when people start exchanging comments in different microblogging communities.

What about you? Are you going to watch the 2009 Obama Inauguration on TV? Or will you view it live, via online streaming video?
