Philippine Holidays 2009

Are you wondering where to find a list of holidays in the Philippines for the year 2009?

Here are the regular holidays (except where otherwise indicated) in the Philippines this year:

  • April 6 (Monday) - Araw ng Kagitingan (originally April 9, but it's now moved to the nearest Monday)
  • April 9 (Holy Thursday)
  • April 10 (Good Friday)
  • May 1 (Friday) - Labor Day
  • June 12 (Friday) - Independence Day
  • Aug 21 (Friday) - Ninoy Aquino Day [Special Non-Working Day]
  • Aug 31 (Monday) - National Heroes Day
  • Sept 20 (Sun) - Eid al-Fitr in 2009 *
  • Nov 1 (Sunday) - All Saints' Day [Special Non-Working Day]
  • Nov 2 (Monday) - All Souls' Day [Special Non-Working Day]
  • Nov 30 (Monday) - Bonifacio Day
  • Dec 24 (Thursday) - Christmas Eve [Special Non-Working Day]
  • Dec 25 (Friday) - Christmas Day
  • Dec 30 (Wednesday) - Rizal Day
  • Dec 31 (Thursday) - New Year's Eve [Special Non-Working Day]

In Macuha.com's List of Philippine Holidays For 2009, you'll find his handy summary of the ten long weekends in 2009.

* Last year, Eid al-Fitr was on Sept. 30, 2008 (according to When-Is.com), and since Malacañang announced the same also on Sept 30, I'm guessing that the date mentioned in When-Is.com for 2009 will also be the same date that Eid al-Fitr will be observed in the Philippines. Still, it's better to wait for the official announcement.
