Free MSI Wind 100H 6-Cell Battery Upgrade?Do you want to upgrade the 3-cell battery of your MSI Wind 100H for free? In select computer shops, you have until January 15, 2009 to get an MSI Wind 100H (3-cell battery). Save the receipt, because you can then head to the MSI office along EDSA (in front of Poveda), and exchange your 3-cell for a 6-cell battery. You'll need to bring your unit because they have to note the serial number and stuff. Ask your friendly computer store sales personnel about this MSI Wind promo, so that you can enjoy your newly-purchased netbook. Typically, 3-cell batteries will last for about 2 hours. Some of my friends who own an MSI are not that happy with the short battery life (only 1 hour and 40 minutes). I wonder, though, if they'll be ecstatic once they use the 6-cell battery. :-) I wonder if it can go more than 7 hours, a la the Samsung NC10? Some say that the 6 cell battery will last a little under 4 hours, assuming you run some programs and have turned the brightness up. If it is on "econo mode" (read: not doing anything), it will last about 5 hours. In the Philippines, the MSI Wind 100H retails at P24,999 in some shops. Get that before Jan. 15, 2009 you'll be able to upgrade the battery at no additional cost. I mean, aside from the cost of having to go to their EDSA office. And if you're still sitting on the fence on whether to get a netbook in 2009, check out http://forums.msiwind.net Been seeing several messages about problems getting WiFi to work, though... Sometimes, you may need to reseat the card. So if I upgrade the battery, how heavy will this thing be? MSI Wind U100, 1.6ghz Atom, 2gb ram, 160gb HD, 6 cell = 2.6 lbs (Hmmm... I wonder if this January 15 deadline is a marketing tactic aimed at selling off the remaining inventory. I mean, before people get more excited over a touchscreen MSI Wind in 2009, perhaps?)
