Sun Broadband Wireless

Move over 3G because 3.5G broadband is now available from Sun Broadband.

Touted as the Next Generation Broadband, this internet service gives you the following Sun Broadband Wireless (SBW) plans:

  • SBW Plan 799 - 400 kbps - P799/month - 60 hours*
  • SBW Plan 999 - 400 kbps (EDGE, not 3G) - P999/month - flat rate
  • SBW Plan 1999 - 1.4 Mbps (3G) - P1,999/month - flat rate

If you use more than 60 hours a month (Plan 799), you will be billed at P0.30/minute. The lock-in period is 24 months.

Please note that the internet speeds listed above are maximum speeds, so the actual speed you get will vary, depending on your location and your signal strength. You will connect to the internet via a USB modem. The one-time charge of P2,000 for the Huawei E220 USB Model is waived.

No, this won't work with your Asus Eee 701, because of the following requirements: Pentium 4; 1 GHz or higher; USB 2.0 full speed; Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Mac OS; 50 MB free hard disk space; and 128MB RAM or higher. Hmmm... will this work on the Asus Eee 1000H?

You can enjoy Sun's 3.5G network, which is available in Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Pasay, and Pasig. I don't know when they will eventually cover the rest of Metro Manila.

If you want to subscribe to Sun's Next Generation Broadband, please call the 333 hotline (using your Sun Cellular service), or +63.2 395 3333.
