Mobile Phone Ebooks

Yes, you can now create or read ebooks on mobile phones.

In Create Your Own eBooks For Your Mobile Phone, you'll read about mjBookMaker (for Windows). This software (I wish a download were available in more popular sites such as Download.com, instead of mostly on sites whose language I do not grasp) reportedly allows you to convert your text ebooks into files which can be read using your cell phone.

In a similar vein, Russell Beatie posts MaxDox Redux - Create your own mobile Java e-books, which provides quite a few interesting ideas for aspiring mobile entrepreneurs.

Imagine that. There are more people walking around with cell phones than with computers. Heck, there are more Filipinos who have a cellular phone than those who actually have computers. And that's what makes mobile publishing attractive -- here's one way of reaching people who would scrimp on other expenses (such as food and clothing) just so they can use their mobile phones.

I just wonder, though, what percentage of those cellphone owners have Java (J2ME) enabled mobile devices.

At any rate, does this signal some kind of rebirth in the ebook industry? Stay tuned...
