Novel Writing Contest

If you can churn out at least 30,000 words then you might be interested in joining the first Man Asian Literary Prize, which will be awarded in the Autumn of 2007.

They are interested in unpublished Asian novels written in English.

You'll need to submit your English novel electronically via their web site no later than March 31, 2007 in any of the following formats:

.txt
.doc
.rtf

Here's a quick timetable:

June 1, 2007 - Announcement of a long list of up to 20 candidates
Oct 1, 2007 - Short list of five candidates
Nov 1, 2007 - Declaration of winner

How much can you win?
$10,000 to the winning author;
$3,000to translator of the winning work (subject to eligibility rules)

You 30,000-word opus must substantially be a work of fiction, and the Asian author must be at least 18 years old.

In addition to winning $10,000 the winner of the prize will be considered for invitation to the Man Hong Kong International Literary Festival in March 2008.
