Isulong Seoph Countdown

In just 15 days, we'll know who will win the Isulong Seoph contest.

Marc Macalua (SEOPhilippines.org) organized this contest to help spread SEM or search engine marketing awareness in the Philippines. It isn't enough to just build a web site, you have to promote it so that others will visit it.

My entry, the Isulong Seoph Podcast at InMyEar.com has been bouncing around pages 3 and 5 of the Google search results for the phrase "isulong seoph."

Surprisingly, Jozzua's Isulong-Seoph.net (Isulong SEOPH with SEO Comics) has dropped out of the race. His site is currently ranked #5. Alfa Mercado has also quit, even if she's just three places away from the Top 10.

The current Number 1 contender is IsulongSeoPhil.com which is an 8-article site. How did such a site grab the number 1 slot for the search phrase "isulong seoph" even if there are a lot of other competitors (some having more than 8 articles)?

That site managed to get a lot of links from other sites.

The number 2 site is IsulongSeoph.org, and it contains 50+ pages.

So the main SEO lesson here is that what others think about your site carries more weight in the search engine rankings that what your site says about itself. :-)
