El Filibusterismo Chapter Summaries (17 - 19)I've just added the summary of three more chapters in Jose Rizal's El Filibusterismo. In the El Filibusterismo Chapter Summaries and Study Notes page, you'll find the summaries of chapters 17, 18, and 19. Chapter 17 describes the Quiapo fair, and Rizal makes use of the stalls and the displayed figurines and images to make a political statement about the Philippine government, frailocracy, and print media. Chapter 18 finds the group of 12 in the tent of Mr. Leeds, where holograms, mirrors and special effects help terrorize Padre Salvi. Chapter 19, entitled The Fuse, gets the ball rolling and picks up the pace of Rizal's El Fili. I'm surprised that people are searching for El Filibusterismo as early as May. I thought students would maximize their vacation break, although it's been raining a lot in Manila lately. Looks like a lot of folks have been stuck at home these past few days.
