Gyrobike: Cause Training Wheels Are DangerousWho would've thought that learning to ride a bicycle using training wheels is dangerous? Children become too dependent on training wheels and learn bad habits that are difficult to overcome once the training wheels come off. You've probably noticed how some people end up leaning all the way to the left or right, as they've grown dependent on one of those little wheels. Source: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T4t6TBXnuRA Adults can help by simply holding the bike while the child wiggles and waggles down the road. The experience helps the child discover how moving the handlebars can help correct their position and thus maintain balance on a bicycle. But, as most dads and moms know, that can be a killer on parentals lower backs. With the Gyrobike, slow and unstable bikes are adjusted by a spinning flywheel that makes the bike feel as if it were moving faster and more stable. In this situation, the bike beginner can learn to make corrections more safely that if the bike had those training wheels.
