Monetize Your Podcast

You can earn money from your podcast by selling advertising.

The Tech Nation Podcast, a popular podcast of the IT Conversations network, is auctioning off an advertising package at eBay (starting bid is US$12,000). [Link via Heather Green]

With 9 days to go there don't appear to be any bids yet, but it would be interesting to see if there will be any takers.

Here are additional places or companies you may wish to offer your podcasting advertising package to:

1. Music stores
2. Gadget shops which sell MP3 players
3. Online shops which your listeners readily buy from
4. Restaurants that your listeners frequent or pass in front of
5. 24-hour convenience stores near schools and dormitories
6. Pre-paid cell phone card retailers
7. Newspaper retailers
8. Companies advertising on AM/FM radio shows
9. Bathroom tile companies, plumbers
10. Book authors, movie producers

Think of companies, products or services that your listeners see or come in close proximity of while they hear your podcast, and the podcast monetization possibilities are endless.
