Wireless Network Security: A Myth?If you think your wireless network is safe, think again. My friend proudly showed me his wireless network. I asked him if it was secure, and he explained that it was secure because of WEP and MAC address filtering. That basically means no one can just sit near your wireless network and sniff for passwords or read your email as it zips through the air. Well, Episode 11 of Security Now will make you question the reliability of WEP and MAC address filtering. Next week (Episode 12?), they will explain how to make your wireless network secure. Until then, however, please have your network engineers reassess your network's security. If you enjoy surfing at some hotspots, it would help to be aware of wireless threats in public wireless networks.
