Preparing Computers For The InternetBefore you start surfing on the web using your brand new PC with Windows XP, please take the time to protect it from viruses and spyware. If you're in the Philippines, you're probably a dial-up user. Be prepared to spend about 3 hours downloading and installing Norton 2006 from Symantec. It would be much simpler to install from a CD. Just the same, the wait is worth it because you can rely on the reputation of Norton for antivirus, antispam, anti-spyware, and parental control. Yes, say goodbye to those questionable images that suddenly pop up on your screen. (I've switched on parental control even for parent surfers, because you'll never know what might pop up just when the children are milling around the PC.) If you take the time to prepare your computer before surfing the web, you'll save time and keep yourself from going back to the computer shop just to have them remove some nasty virus.
