Termite Control

I met Romulus "Bong" Lorilla, a supervisor who works at the Professional Maintenance Group, Inc. One of their services here in the Philippines is termite control.

There's a termite colony right outside our wall and we were worried that those termites might enter our house.

According to Bong, if the inner lot is treated properly, you'll have an effective anti-termite barrier that should last 2 to 3 years.

Ideally, soil treatment should be done during summer or at least during the occasional dry spells of the rainy season. This helps ensure that the anti-termite solution will not just get washed away by the rains.

For those with indoor landscaping, if ever you decide to bring in new soil, please have the additional soil treated. Otherwise, that can lead to termite attack even if you had termite control experts visit your home only recently.

While other pest control experts say that a termite colony will affect homes within a 20 meter distance, Bong says that an effective barrier will do. Otherwise, you'll have to go around checking the lots of your neighbors.

Besides, if the termites burrow deeper into the ground, there may be no sign of them. Fortunately in Quezon City, there's an underlying layer of hard adobe rock. Since the termites cannot burrow deep into hundreds of subterranean passages, you'll easily see the mounds or termite hills.

If you want more information on termite control and how you can safeguard your home, please get in touch with Bong Lorilla:
