El Filibusterismo Chapter Summaries In Audio

I'll be adding El Filibusterismo chapter summaries in audio format in the coming weeks. Since I don't want to get hoarse, I'll make use of AT&T Natural Voice and Text to Speech software to easily create the mp3 files.

If you visit http://www.viloria.com/elfilibusterismo, you will find on the right side of the screen some "play" buttons, plus direct links to the mp3 files. When I have the time, I'll probably put up a podcast feed. It depends on the demand.

Using text-to-speech programs helps if you're trying to reach an audience that doesn't like to stay in front of their computer. They can download the mp3 files into their mp3 players, and are able to take those notes or chapter summaries wherever they want.

While commuting on a jeepney or FX taxi, they can "study" by simply listening. That will hopefully save a lot of time.

What I have to test, however, is how long people can stand listening to a robotic voice. True, there are "natural voice" programs that can make the audio sound more human, but the inflections and pronunciation may prove amusingly distracting.

Please let me know what you think, via the form below....
