New Security Holes Threaten Media PlayersIf you're using Windows Media Player WMP 10, then learn more about the security risks of media players. The trojans hide in .wmv video files. Some of these video files are DRM-protected so when a license is not found in your PC, the system searches for a license over the internet. Unfortunately, some of these "licenses" are actually spyware or adware programs which are downloaded straight to your computer. It used to be that viruses spread through program files (i.e., EXE files). Now, even video files can be used to spread PC infections. Aaaargh! Looks like we all need to keep our antivirus programs updated. (I wonder how the video bloggers will handle this. Use another video format? Use flash?)
