Visitors Design Your Web Site

I used to think that I was the one who designed this web site. Actually, web design is something influenced by your visitors as well.

(I'm posting this online because when I tried to send you email, it bounced.)

Someone thought I stopped updating this site, because the About Manuel page showed April 2002 as my last entry. This, in spite of the fact that my Secondthoughts entries appear above the April 2002 entry.

So I added a "latest" entry and highlighted it in yellow to address the needs of those who missed the Secondthoughts links.

What did I learn from this? Visitors don't just exhibit banner blindness, they also show rest-of-the-page blindness. This happens when they've gotten used to staring at a particular part of your web page in the past.

With that knowledge, may you design your web pages with your site visitor in mind.
