OpenOffice Limitations

I'm now trying OpenOffice, and I'll be posting over the next few days whatever limitations I find while working with MS Word documents and MS Excel spreadsheets.

1. If you apply conditional formatting on a worksheet in Excel, where every other row has a background color, the background color does not appear when you open the .xls file in OpenOffice.

Stay tuned...

Feb 23, 2003 Update:
Waldemar writes: "the limitations you are trying to find is the incompatibility of MS Office to OpenOffice.org. the incompatibility is the result of MS failure to conform to standards."

Thanks for this point of view, Waldemar. Prem recommends OpenOffice. I like OpenOffice so far, mainly because of the price. =) But I still need to deal with the questions of those who just want to use software and who do not focus that much on standards or open source. They focus on whether they can do their job, and whether they can work seamlessly with those who use MS Office.

In the meantime, I'll go see how OpenOffice deals with Excel add-ins, particularly those which allow us to automatically display the "amount in words" of a figure stored in some spreadsheet cell.
