Digitel seen spending $260M for 2004 telecom expansionDigitel seen spending $260M for 2004 telecom expansion -- "We expect about 250 million dollars in (capital expenditure) for wireless. Hopefully we'll get it below that, but that is the working number for the wireless business. For fixed line, it's minimal. Maybe 10 million to 12 million dollars, Digitel president and chief executive Lance Gokongwei told reporters in a recent interview." Sounds exciting... but what about our old cellphone numbers? Updating phonebooks and texting all our friends about our new number can be quite a hassle. One cell number for 'switchers' proposed -- "The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has been urged to draw up new regulations that would allow cellular phone subscribers to keep their mobile phone numbers even when they switch to other mobile carrier companies." If they can make this work here in the Philippines... =) NTC: RP Internet users grow 131% to 1.8M in 2003 -- "From about 800,000 in 2002, the number of subscribers rose to 1,852,333, the government agency said in documents furnished the Information Technology Journalists Association of the Philippines." I wonder if this is the reason for the increase in viloria.com visitors.
