NTC issues new wi-fi rules, lifts ban on 2.4 GHz-use -- "The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has issued regulations governing wireless fidelity (wi-fi) use in the Philippines, effectively lifting the ban on the use of the 2.4-gigahertz frequency band in three areas in the country. After several jam-packed public hearings, the agency posted the much-awaited memorandum circular on its website. The new NTC circular will become effective 15 days after publication in a newspaper."

Minimizing wi-fi interference -- "Wi-fi rollout security tip: use encryption (WEP or newer EAP), disable guest accounts, disable DHCP service and change your wi-fi AP's default SSID. Also, have a management-sponsored policy on disallowing wi-fi equipment (wi-fi AP and clients) not sanctioned by your office. If you will allow, treat the connections with due caution and put them outside the LAN."
