My Kids and Lolo Indiana

Yesterday, we took the kids to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. My kids, of course, had no idea who Indiana Jones was nor did they know who Harrison Ford was.

We just got them excited by saying that Indiana Jones was an action-packed movie and that mom and dad enjoyed the previous Indiana Jones movies when they were kids themselves.

The movie was alright. I thought there could have been more action and excitement but as Indiana Jones said somewhere in the movie: "We were younger then." I also didn't like the storyline too much -- too mystical and "alien" for my taste but I still enjoyed watching Lolo Indiana. Harrison Ford still looks good! And when you start hearing John Williams' music (tan ta nanan tan ta nan tan ta na nan tan ta nananan...) playing, I couldn't help but feel like a kid again. I guess that's why I wanted to watch the movie. It reminds me so much of my childhood and youth. And Harrison Ford, even as I age, will always be older than me.

Did my kids enjoy the movie? My son did but my daughter got a bit scared. I really enjoyed myself though when Cate Blanchett first appeared in the movie as Russian Agent Irina Spalko and my daughter Ali asked: "Is that Willie Wonka?" or "Is that Edna Mode?" Medyo kamukha nga naman.

When the movie ended, I asked Ali: "Do you think Indiana Jones was cute?" and Ali replied: "He's a little handsome... but not cute."

After the movie, we got the VCDs of the former Indiana Jones movies so the kids can "see where it all began." I still think Raiders of the Lost Ark was the best. I hope my kids will enjoy it too.
