IT 84 Class Reunion

Our school was originally known as Institucion Teresiana. That's where the IT comes from. While we were in elementary, if I remember correctly, the name of the school was changed to Poveda Learning Centre.

Now, it's known as Saint Pedro Poveda College. Anyway, what's in a name? Our school, by any other name, will still bring back fond memories.

It's been 22 years since our batch graduated from high school. Yup, that long -- even if we don't look it. =) We actually prepared a video for the reunion which mentions some things which didn't exist then: like Microsoft Office, digital cameras, digital cellular phones, and the iPod. Yes, we are all growing older.

Anyway, about 20 or so ladies attended and it was fun to see all of you. It was good to see four of our former teachers too -- yes, they are still there molding students who will probably appreciate them more twenty years from now. You know how young people are.

The games were fun: from the IceBreaker which asked all of us to "Group According to..." to the Category Game which had all of us remembering things from the '80s -- from our teachers, to the songs we sang. It was good to take a school tour too! Our school has changed so much. There's now a LEAP Center which encourages students to finish their IW cards right away. There's a computer room. There are rows and rows of pingpong tables when I don't remember if we even had one in those days.

The food was yummy; the awards given out, interesting; but most of all, it was good to spend time with people you grew up with -- ladies who saw you when you generally didn't have a care in the world; when you thought that having a pimple on your face was a major tragedy; when you weren't quite sure about yourself and what you wanted out of life and they just let you be. Our elementary and high school years leave us with a lot of opportunities to make friends and bond with them. In hindsight, we probably should have bonded with more people in our youth but reunions show us that it is never too late to start.

Till the next reunion...

(As for the pictures and the videos, if you are an IT84 batch member, you know where they are. If you don't, send me e-mail and I will let you know.)
