Moleskine Philippines

I finally got my first Moleskine notebook! I didn't get it actually. It was a gift from the hubby.

Moleskine is said to be the "legendary notebook of Hemingway, Picasso, Chatwin" and other famous writers and artists, Jessica Zafra and Neil Gaiman, included. Not that I intend to write anything astounding, earth-shaking, or award-winning on it -- I just think that the makers, Modo & Modo, an Italian company, has a good marketing tactic, appealing to people who like to write, scribble, or draw. Now that I think about it, actually, there are only 3 things that I really like: travel, paper products and pens (and anything remotely related to those), and books and magazines.

I've heard it said that Moleskine is one of the "best notebooks." They are actually black notebooks and diaries which can come plain, ruled, squared, etc. so you can choose the notebook that best suits your purpose. You can get an address book, a diary, sketchbooks, among others.

The notebook has acid-free paper and is bound in "oil cloth covered cardboard," which is what is called moleskin. It has an elastic band which holds the notebook closed when not in use. It is also constructed in such a way, that it actually lies flat when the notebook is opened.

The pages are smooth to write on and it is much easier to write on the notebook when it lies flat. The user can choose to write horizontally or vertically.

If you are based in the Philippines, and would like to try out using a Moleskine notebook, you can get in touch with the Sales Manager of Moleskine Philippines, Mr. Benedict Bueno at +63919 4735522. My husband ordered the notebook from him. You can also visit his website:
