A Student's Prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas

Exams have just finished, probably, in most schools in Metro Manila, Philippines. Most students, and their parents, as well, are probably looking forward to the semestral break come late October and early November.

As a student, did you or have you ever experienced not having enough time to study your lessons? In some cases, it may just be a matter of scheduling while in some cases, you may really be having difficulty with some subject matter. In any case, it is good to do your best in reviewing but it is likewise good to say a prayer before the exam (or perhaps, better - to say a prayer everyday.) Miracles happen! Maybe, you'll get an easy question or maybe a difficult answer will just pop into your head.

Anyway, for those numerous students out there, you may want to say A Student's Prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas daily:

Creator of all things,
true source of light and wisdom,
origin of all being,
graciously let a ray of your light penetrate
the darkness of my understanding.

Take from me the double darkness
in which I have been born,
an obscurity of sin and ignorance.

Give me a keen understanding,
a retentive memory, and
the ability to grasp things
correctly and fundamentally.

Grant me the talent
of being exact in my explanations
and the ability to express myself
with thoroughness and charm.

Point out the beginning,
direct the progress,
and help in the completion.

I ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Happy studying! May all of you learn much.
