Thanks for posting this……i am a filipina married to a dutch and now we have 2 wonderful boys…..my eldest – Kendrick, is now learning to play flute and i’ve been searching for the right notes of “Bahay Kubo” and i am very happy that i finally find it in your site…..thank you so much for sharing….now its my turn to teach this to my son! more power!

Thank you. In the nursery class I work in, there are quite a few children from the Philippines and one of the mothers told me the words to Bahay Kubo to sing with the children, but some of the vegetables are hard to translate into English! Now we can sing the song properly.

My 4 year old daughter has a school presentation this month on bahay kubo. She memorized the song already but she doesn’t know the meaning of any of the words. So I started searching for pictures of every word in bahay kubo , then I came across your website. It’s cool and informative at the same time. Thank you for making it easier for me.

I think your podcasts are absolutely wonderful. I moved to Seattle when I was eight and quickly lost my ability to speak Cebuano. (Still fluently understand it, but can’t speak it.) On a whim, I decided to check out your site and I’m hooked to your lessons. They’re a lot of fun and the short format is perfect. Something I would definitely recommend to non-Filipino speakers. Keep up the excellent program!

I didn’t know Bahay Kubo wasn’t taught in Philippine schools anymore. How about doing some more children’s songs? Paruparong Bukid, for instance. Or what about that one song that mixes Tagalog and English really badly: One day, isang araw; I saw, nakakita; etc.

Hi! my lola used to sing me this when I was a baby (only 17 years ago)..so the tradition lives on! But yes, I only used to remember the “bahay kubo” part and now I remembered it and relearned it all. Thank you so much! I’m teaching this song to my spanish class for my project, thanks for all your help! I love these podcasts!
