PLDT Home Bro Ultera
Are you looking for ultra-fast LTE for the home? Check out PLDT's Home Bro ULTERA which can give up to 10 Mbps.
The last time I checked their site at http://pldthome.com/homebro I saw a promo where for only P499 you can get up to 2 Mbps unlimited internet. They call that plan the Home Bro Plan 999.
LTE allows you to connect to the internet using wireless technology, which means we can say goodbye to messy cables in the home. What we need to consider, though, is the signal that we're receiving.
With PLDT HOME Bro's Ultera plans, we get to use a different network. There's no sharing with the usual phone or pocket wifi modems.
How fast is HOME Bro Ultera Pro at 10 Mbps?
The HOME Bro Ultera Pro (up to 10 Mbps) package costs P1,999 a month (plus a P166/month Activation Fee for the first 6 months), and this comes with a 30GB recommended usage for optimum speed.
What this tells me is that if we exceed more than 30 GB of upload/download data in the month, we won't be assured of the "up to 10 Mbps" speed.
If we compare this with the P1299 10Mbps plan of SkyBroadband (15 GB), and then add the P50 per 1 GB top-ups, that means that P1,999 will give us 29GB of 10Mbps internet connection via SkyBroadband.
When we factor in the P166/month for the first 6 months activation fee of HOME Bro Ultera Pro, that brings our monthly cost to P2,165 for the first 6 months.
If we pay P2,165 to SkyBroadband each month for their 10 Mbps package, that comes out to 32 GB worth of upload/download data.
From our personal experience, kids at home watching anime cartoons on YouTube will consume around 1 GB of data per day. So the 2 GB difference is 2 days of internet use for the children during vacation time.
In the meantime, we'll be searching for ULTERA reviews before trying out this new service.
