SMART Roaming and APNIf you're using SMART and you plan to go roaming outside the Philippines, you can protect yourself from excessive mobile internet or data charges by removing the APN. I spoke with a Customer Rep from SMART, and she mentioned that when you switch off Mobile Data or Packet Data on an iPhone, it remains off until you manually switch it back on. But when you're using another smartphone, it's possible that a fluctuating WiFi signal will automatically switch on Mobile Data (and rack up high internet connection charges while you're outside the country). I told her that a Customer Rep from GLOBE told me that a low WiFi signal will automatically switch on the Mobile Packet Data of an iPhone. The SMART Customer Rep then told me that I can always change the APN name or switch to Flight Mode (of Offline Mode) while I'm using WiFi just to be safe. Anyway, here are the default APN settings for a SMART Postpaid subscriber, based on an Android smartphone I have nearby: Name APN Proxy Username Password Server MMSC MMS proxy MMS port MCC MNC Authentication type APN type APN protocol Enable/disable APN Bearer
