BlackBerry Curve 8520 or BlackBerry Bold 9700?

Are you wondering whether to buy a BlackBerry Curve 8520 or a BlackBerry Bold 9700, especially now that Sun Cellular is offering the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)?

First of all, there's the price difference of about 2x. The Curve costs around P14k, while the Bold goes for a little over P28k (Prepaid SRP).

Then there's the look: Curve = casual | Bold = Business

As far as weight is concerned, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is about 16g heavier than the BlackBerry Curve 8520, but gives you up to 6 hours of talktime (an advantage of about 1.5 hours more, compared to the BlackBerry Curve talktime of up to 4 hours and 30 minutes).

Also, BB Bold has 3G while BB Curve has EDGE/GPRS. This means that your surfing experience will be faster with the Bold rather than with the Curve.

The BlackBerry Bold has a 3.2MP camera (versus the Curve's 2MP), but do you really see yourself whipping out your professional, business-like BlackBerry to snap photos in public? ;-)

Bottomline: If you're mainly into messaging, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will do. If you do a lot of surfing, then go for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.
