Webhosting Rerouting

Had to do some webhosting server re-routing after a webhost provider experienced a network failure.

Here's the approach you can use:

1. Register your domain in a separate domain registrar.

When I say "separate" I mean: not with your webhost provider. This way, in case your webhost provider goes offline for whatever reason, you can still edit the DNS entries of your domain name and rapidly point it to another webhost provider.

2. Get two different webhosting providers, preferably located in different areas.

3. Copy (or mirror) the content of your website in those two different hosts.

4. Ensure that your sites can be reached via an IP address.

And that's it! When your main host goes down, simply log into your domain registrar panel, and edit the A records. Point your domain name to the IP address of the second webhost provider, and soon you will see your site online again.

I hope that helps you improve the uptime of your different websites.
