"The all expenses paid scholarship hopes to encourage future Filipino leaders to better understand the 'economic miracle' of China and eventually help the Philippines benefit from this phenomenon. It is tragic that much of the Philippine society only looks up to the West traditionally for trade, aid, cultural exchanges and ideas, instead of the ancient civilization and the fast-growing economy of China."

- Mr. John L. Gokongwei, Jr.

This program will offer selected scholars an all-expense paid scholarship that includes monthly living allowance, medical insurance, travel expenses, as well as tuition for studies in learning Mandarin language, Chinese culture (e.g. selected topics on government, history, etc) and other development-related fields (e.g. economics, political science, etc). Scholars will be enrolled at our partner academic institutions in the Philippines and the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The scholarship duration is for ten months starting July 2009. The first five months to be spent in a partner academic institution in Manila, Philippines and the remaining five months to be spent in a partner academic institution in China.
