OPM with an American Twist

Original Pinoy Music (OPM) is quite popular among Filipinos. And also among some Americans.

If you visit the YouTube channel of AkoSiChrisTV (Ako si Chris is Tagalog for "I am Chris"), you'll see him sing a favorite OPM song -- Magasin (by the Eraserheads).

The Eraserheads is a band that connects with a lot of Filipinos. Their songs are catchy and a lot of listeners can relate to the stories woven into the songs. I like the way Chris calls his version of OPM.

He calls it "jOePM" (some Pinoys call Americans "Joe", especially if they don't know your name). I wonder if he experienced Filipinos calling out to him with "Hey, Joe!" :-) Chris has a great sense of humor which is evident in his video above.

I found out about Chris thanks to one of the tweets (Twitter messages) of Eunice Del Rosario. It's amazing how microblogging can help spread awareness of gems such as OPM and Ako Si Chris TV.

Rock on!
