Excel Tip: Display Worksheet NamesI was printing an MS Excel spreadsheet with numerous tabs (or worksheets), and was wondering how to display the tab or worksheet name inside a cell. This way, when someone is reading the printout, we can easily identify which worksheet they're looking at. It makes editing or correcting spreadsheets easier, especially when you start to have over 30 worksheets in just one spreadsheet, and you're using cryptic or short tab names. Step 1: Save your spreadsheet. Your file has to have a file name. Step 2: Copy the following formula as-is into the cell where you want the worksheet name displayed: =MID(CELL("filename",A1),FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1))+1,256) Go ahead and try it! :-) And if ever you edit the worksheet name, you'll find that the Excel formula gets automatically updated.
