BPA and Baby Bottles

Are baby plastic bottles safe to use?

Heard over Philippine AM radio a couple of days ago about the concern over plastic baby bottles. Apparently, some products leech chemicals that can harm your child. There has been no official announcement yet from BFAD or the DoH, but just to be on the safe side, some folks have suggested some amount of prudence.

BPA Free Bottle List
Here is a quick list of bottles that are BPA-free. You'll find info about disposable bottles as well as glass baby bottles.

Bisphenol-A Debate
"Depending on whom you talk to, BPA is either perfectly safe or a dangerous health risk. The plastics industry says it is harmless, but a growing number of scientists are concluding, from some animal tests, that exposure to BPA in the womb raises the risk of certain cancers, hampers fertility and could contribute to childhood behavioral problems such as hyperactivity."

SF Bans Toys, Bottles Made With BPA
"While the Food and Drug Administration and the American Plastics Council insist BPA is safe, an outspoken biology professor and other scientists believe it may bring all kinds of harm -- such as cancer, early puberty, obesity and even attention-deficit disorder."

These are mostly references to pages in 2006. I wonder if anyone has more current info regarding the polycarbonate bottle health and safety debate.
