BatJay Book LaunchNicanor "Jay" David launches his latest book Batang Kaning Lamig at Fully Booked (The Fort) this afternoon at 3PM. More popularly known as BatJay, Jay is an Overseas Filipino Worker who entertains people with his zany humor over at KwentongTambay.com, which is the Tagalog term for "tales told by a handsome guy." Kidding! It literally translates to "stories shared by people who stand around with nothing better to do." :-) His blog eventually produced a blook (not a typo). Kwentong Tambay was launched in 2006. Today, he launches "Batang Kaning Lamig", which refers to a child who eats cold rice. In the Philippines, there are a number of reasons why a child eats cold food. For one, he could've simply arrived late at the dining table, and people were too lazy to re-heat the food. For another, perhaps the child comes from a poor family eating rice that's not newly-cooked, and they're saving on fuel costs. Anyway, I'm getting a copy of Jay's book to find out what's going on in Jay's mind, and to discover (maybe) why he chose that title for his book. (If you're wondering what BatJay is doing right now, whether he's getting on the plane, or signing books, or walking around The Fort, check out his Twitter page at http://twitter.com/batjay) Previous Entry Secondthoughts Index Next Entry
