Profitable PodcastingAnd all along I thought podcasters were silent on profits. But here we have an announcement from Wizzard Software (parent company of LibSyn, which is the service that The Sini-Gang uses) about the 108% growth in revenues (4Q 2007 vs 4Q 2006). Not bad... With more people trying out podcasting, and a billion download requests in 2007, can we expect more podcasters in the coming months? I'm hoping more people will at least try. Some of my friends feel that creating podcasts can be a highly draining activity. Afterall, you'll spend about 2 hours producing a 7-minute episode. Those two hours include writing an outline, recording, editing, uploading the MP3 file, and posting the show notes in a WordPress blog. The initial episodes are fairly easy to complete. It's the succeeding ones which tend to get to you, because somehow other things in your life will get in the way. But you know what? You simply need to try. Aim for just one episode first, and see if you like it. Who knows? You just might be popular enough for advertisers to notice. Focus on serving the people whom these companies would like to reach, and don't be surprised if you start pro-podcasting after 7 months. Previous Entry Secondthoughts Index Next Entry
