Asus Eee PC in GalleriaSpotted a white and a black Asus Eee PC in Robinsons Galleria. I forgot the name of the shop, but it was beside the Electronic Boutique. I was surprised to find out that the P18,500 was the same, whether you chose the white or the black Asus Eee PC (with 4GB of memory). You can also opt to pay via Citibank Pay Lite, but there's no Zero Percent Interest Plan. In other words, be prepared to shell out P1,844 each month for a year, or more than 19% more for that sub-notebook. I tried typing on the Asus Eee, and made a lot of typos. Clearly, it's not meant for typing long reports on the road. Perhaps you can get a flexible external keyboard for that. But as far as showing photos is concerned, then the Eee works beautifully. You can prepare your documents on a notebook or even a desktop, save the OpenOffice files on to a thumbdrive, and then just plug that into any one of the 3 USB ports of the Asus Eee. I wonder, though, why they installed OO version 2.0 instead of 2.3 in the sample model. Anyway, you can easily install the latest version of OpenOffice. You can even remove the Linux OS and install WindowsXP, if you wish. Is the Asus Eee for you? Well, if you make a lot of presentations, or if you're quite mobile, this sub-notebook wonder might just be the perfect Christmas gift for you. Previous Entry Secondthoughts Index Next Entry
