Was able to successfully install Joomla awhile ago.
Then I got the case of the Joomla jitters. The magic quotes GPC warning wouldn't go away from the screen, even after I tried the htaccess solution for turning magic quotes gpc on.
After reading page after page of Joomla help files (with emphasis on security), it looks like we'll be better off in a non-shared server environment. But are we prepared to learn Joomla on a VPS or even a dedicated server?
Perhaps a more cost effective way would be to install Joomla on a non-mission critical webserver. That way, even if something goes wrong, we won't hyperventilate too much.
Either way, I've decided to just delete the folder. Installation was a breeze, but post-installation security activities are something else.
