iPod Video: Worth It?

My nephew uses an iPod Video with his eyes closed most of the time.

Yes, he uses it mostly to listen to music. He opens his eyes when he searches for a particular title to listen to. I wonder why he got the iPod video, only to listen to music.

Well, it turns out that the video iPod is a waste of cash, according to Nielsen Media Research, because only 2.2 percent of video iPod users watched video on that device.

I guess my nephew belongs to the overwhelming majority.

People usually watch videos on a larger screen: the computer, the TV, or the silver screen. Perhaps if people start hooking up their iPods to a larger screen, then it just might work. Then again, there's always the mobility issue.

Why get an iPod? So you can bring your entertainment everywhere, without getting too tired. Try lugging around a laptop for your YouTube fix, and your back and arms will begin complaining after only 30 minutes of walking.

Given consumers' need for larger screens for video, movies on the cell phone will most likely not take off either.
