YouTube Uptime and Downtime

Is it just me or is YouTube really offline?

If you're wondering whether the internet connection problem rests with you and your ISP or with something else, you can check out the YouTube Uptime Monitor.

The free GIGRIB uptime service (from IPWalk.com) allows you to monitor any site's uptime from multiple locations. That helps you determine if the problem lies only between two points on the internet, or if the issue is more pervasive.

I wonder if the increasing popularity of YouTube is behind the recently increasing downtimes. Videobloggers or those delivering videos online might wish to consider storing all those videos on a non-YouTube site.

Afterall, if YouTube suddenly vanishes, are you willing to let your videos go dark online also?

There really is no such thing as a free lunch. ;-)
