MS Word Vulnerability

Are you using MS Word 2002 or 2003? Please protect yourself from Zero-Day attacks.

Zero-Day attacks are launched within 24 hours from the time the security flaw is discovered. That doesn't give you much time to wait for patches now, does it?

What to do? Use MS Wod in Safe Mode -- "Microsoft's advisory also contains step-by-step instructions for running the vulnerable Word 2002 and Word 2003 in safe mode. The company is recommending that users first disable the Outlook feature to use Word as the default mail editor before changing settings to run Word in safe mode."

Or you can use the MS Word Viewer to open Word doc files sent to you via email (or via webpage downloads). Or why not try AbiWord, an MS Word alternative?

Here's to vigilance and safer computing. That's the price we pay for using popular programs such as MS Word.
