Multimedia Presentation Freeware

Educators can use free multimedia presentation software in their digital storytelling efforts.

In Telling Your Multimedia Story Using Free Software Tools, Phil Shapiro talks about PowerBullet.com, which is a free program that creates multipage or slideshow presentations in the Flash format.

If you were to create a Powerpoint presentation, your audience must have Powerpoint or a special viewer in order to watch your slides. On the other hand, your audience will simply need a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox to view Flash presentations.

This means you can place your story online in Flash format, go to a place which has an internet connection, and then browse the web page which contains your presentation. Since the Flash files are relatively small, even people on slower dial-up connections can still view your slideshow.

Combine the Powerbullet Presenter software with Audacity (a free sound recording and editing software), and you can tell a story online.
